Why Fraxel Re:pair Is an Excellent Option for Skincare

If you are looking for an innovative way to improve your overall skin complexion, Fraxel Re:pair may be exactly what you need! Similar to traditional laser treatments, the dermatologists at Southeast Dermatology Specialists can help you decide if Fraxel Re:pair is right for you and your skin. Here are some tips to help you decide if these lasers are right for your skincare goals.

What to Know About Fraxel Re:pair

What Is Fraxel Re:pair?

Fraxel Re:pair is a laser technology that gives the skin a deep dermal ablation to restore it and freshens it up. It penetrates the skin deeper than microneedling, chemical peels, or other facials, so the results are longer lasting. Fraxel Re:pair boosts collagen production to the face by heating the underlying layer of skin known as the dermis. The top layer of skin is removed so that the new skin will show through. By using carbon dioxide to mitigate microscopic columns of the skin, this treatment is more aggressive. This means faster results, fewer visits, and that it’s a less time-consuming treatment. Because of the depth at which these lasers reach, this also means they’re capable of removing even deep wrinkles and lines. However, there may be some redness, swelling, and itching right after treatment. This should clear up within a few days.

What Can Fraxel Re:pair Treat?

Fraxel Re:pair is known to treat several conditions, but it’s mostly used to stop signs of aging and smooth out overall complexion. It’s an ideal solution for improving pigmentation, resurfacing soft tissues, reducing redness on the skin, and even eliminating broken blood vessels that are often found around the nose.

Most patients enjoy this treatment for the reduction of wrinkles on the forehead and crow’s feet around the eyes. It’s also a great treatment for reducing signs of sun damage on the skin, giving the skin an overall more youthful, blemish-free glow. Though there are side effects, this is a safe and efficient treatment, ideal for those looking for more than just an anti-aging treatment.

What to Expect During the Procedure

The most important step you can take before any laser treatment is visiting a board-certified dermatologist. They will walk you through the procedure, what to expect the day of, and what to expect after. Patients with a connective tissue disease or who are pregnant are not able to receive this treatment.

On the day of your treatment, you will arrive with a face clean of makeup and untanned skin. An antibiotic and an antiviral will be prescribed to reduce the chances of infection. Your face will be cleansed by the provider, then 60-90 minutes before the treatment, a topical will also be applied to the treated area so that there is minimal pain and discomfort. The procedure only takes about 30 minutes.

After treatment, expect to treat minor bleeding and oozing for 48 hours. There will be some swelling as well, but it should subside in about a week.
